Fogal Stockings produce an excellent diffusion effect with subtle and interesting artifacts. The shape and irregularity of the fine 11 denier weave minimize "star effect" and halation. Subtle blooming and color fringing is apparent in overexposed highlights, but the Fogal is probably the cleanest of the stocking nets in this regard. They give a pearly soft look without being murky.
